True transformation requires this one thing

If you’re on on a path of self-improvement, personal growth, healing, or any other transformational work, you are going to need the help of this one very powerful resource. In fact, true transformation is very difficult without it.

What is it?

A radical willingness to unflinchingly look at yourself.

This means looking at the good, the bad, and the ugly of your self, your life, your past, and your entire inner landscape in a directed manner with no compromises and no escapes.

Why is this critical? Because no matter what you are trying to work on, I guarantee that what you are consciously aware of is literally only the tip of the iceberg. Its the tip of a very very very big iceberg that is completely submerged beneath the surface and outside of your every day awareness. And this iceberg is driving many of the decisions, actions, choices, feelings, attitudes and approaches that you take every single day of your life.

There is a good chance that anything you are struggling with today has deep roots beneath the surface. And most of us spend our entire lives trying to avoid seeing the roots or going beneath the surface. We do this in a myriad of ways, including busying ourselves and filling up every moment of dead time or space, distractions, addictions of all kinds, obsessions, compulsions, absent mindedness, and all other forms of what are essentially escapist behaviors. There are as many strategies for avoiding self-reflection as there are people on the planet.

The fact is we don’t want to look at this stuff because much of our life has been organized to avoid it. Welcome to the human condition.

And this is why an unflinching approach to self examination is so radical. It is the opposite of what 99% of us are doing every single day of our lives. And without this willingness we are doomed to repeat the same old patterns, live-out the same old self-limiting unconscious beliefs, and face the same lessons over and over and over again. Now maybe you’re ok with that, many people are. But if you are truly looking to grow, transform and live with intention and purpose, this is a necessary must. And it is amazing how far this can take you.
